  1. Yeah - obviously we can only speculate when Facebook will be profitable, assuming they aren't already. I don't know anything about Facebook - I left in May and never did learn the API. It seemed like a very poor place to try to earn a living.

I am, however, very familiar with the Twitter API. Again, we can only speculate on the financials but it seems to me that Twitter's management is much more focused on the numbers, and they've begun to back away from the "Wild West" openness of the API in favor of negotiated partnerships. So I think they'll make it to profitability, and soon.

I honestly think Twitter is still too open, but their management is on record as saying they think openness is a requirement for "survival". We'll see - once the election is over and the holiday season starts, Twitter traffic will start growing again. They've apparently got some good partnerships in place with the NFL and NBA, and the holiday film season will also be tweeted. So I'm bullish on Twitter.

  2. I find Facebook model more clear than the Twitter one. Facebook business model is based on the social graph and Twitter business model is based, on... well... nobody knows.

For that reason Twitter is a dangerous company to partner with. You developer something cool based on their API, and a few months later they developed the same thing or bought a competitor.

  3. I was looking for a job back in May, after we moved from DC to Houston. I was having a very hard time keeping track of where I had applied. I literally applied to hundreds of jobs. With all my spare time, I put together a simple website with all the landing pages of the open positions at well over 200 companies nationwide.

For those of you out there, looking for a job. Here's the website:

    http://grantbeehler.net/jobs.html

I got a job in the beginning of July, making more than I did in DC, so we're very happy with the move. But I figure others may still be able to use the site.

I'm looking for suggestions to expand the list as well, so please let me know!

    Good Luck!

  4. How to buy a wedding dress

Before you start your search for the cheap wedding gowns, you might like to carefully consider the fit, style and color.

Wedding etiquette and customs are changing. Pretty much anything and everything goes. If you want to wear a Cinderella style ball gown to the County Courthouse, I say Do It! But, if you'd like to follow with tradition, the type of ceremony usually dictates the proper style of gown. A long formal dress is suitable for a church or civil ceremony. A short dress or suit is also a nice option for a courthouse wedding. A beach wedding usually requires a more casual dress and bare feet. A garden ceremony perhaps will dictate a lighter, more gossamer fabric. If you are getting hitched at midnight on a snowy mountain top... a matching cloak and full length long johns might be in order. Also keep in mind that the back of your dress is very important, especially if your guests will be staring at it for the entire ceremony.

White became the established color for wedding gowns in the 18th century. Queen Victoria married Albert wearing a white gown, and that pretty much set the style in stone. However, these days you are no longer limited to a single color option when selecting your wedding dress. Recent trends have included gorgeous gowns in all colors of the rainbow. If you are more conservative then you'd probably be happiest with white, ivory, or pale blush pink. If you are dramatic then why not select a vibrant color you relate to. Even if you'd like an emerald green gown, chances are, you can find one on EBay. Remember to choose a color that is going to flatter your complexion. You can find out if you are a warm or a cool type by visiting a cosmetic counter. Ask the salesperson which you are, that way you can find out which colors to gravitate to. Warm colors include yellow, red, orange, yellow-green and purple. Cool colors are blue, violet, turquoise, sea green and green. Neutral colors are black, white, gray, beige and brown and look good on both warm and cool types.

Some common sense comes in handy when you've found a dress you'd like to bid on. Feel free to ask questions as the seller should be more than happy to address your concerns. Find out the exact measurements of the gown, as well as the shipping costs. Ask for the seller's return policy if it is not listed in the ad. Remember to check your EBay seller's feedback before purchasing. With a bit of diligence and a dash of courage you can find your perfect dress on EBay.

Wedding World has some great options available now, and we'd love for you to check them out. Thanks.

  5. Whether or not 28 days between its announcement and it shipping sets a new record for the company, the Nokia C7 is a welcome addition to the Finn’s smartphone line-up. Slotting into the company’s mainstream range, it’s the second Symbian^3 device after the Nokia N8 we reviewed a few days ago. More first-impressions, plus hands-on photos and video after the cut.

Unlike the N8′s well-stocked box, the C7 makes do with a somewhat sparser selection of accessories. There’s a compact 2.5mm charger (rather than a microUSB charger, though you can rejuice the C7 via its microUSB port) and a basic wired stereo headset with an in-line call answer button and microphone, together with a very short – as in only a couple of inches – USB cable, getting-started guide and the phone itself. Unlike the N8 there’s no HDMI output, but the C7 does support USB On The Go; you’ll have to buy the required cable yourself, though, since Nokia don’t bundle one.

    Nokia C7 unboxing & hands-on:

The C7 itself feels sturdy and expensive, with lashings of metal around the bezel and the battery cover, and a glass front panel covering the 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. As on the N8 that runs at 640 x 360 resolution, and in fact our first impression is that both devices run pretty much identically. Nokia’s usual suite of apps – Ovi Maps, a shortcut to the Ovi Store, the video editing software – are all loaded, and you have three homescreens to customize, each with up to six widgets.

On the back there’s an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and a dual-LED flash; no Xenon or 12-megapixels as on the N8, but it does make the C7 slimmer and less likely to catch on a pocket or bag. It’ll record 720p HD 25fps video clips, too. The C7 also shares the N8′s superlative connectivity: as well as WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 there’s quadband GSM/EDGE and five-band WCDMA, making the handset suitable for both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, and use across Europe.

At a casual glance, then, the C7 arguably offers the best of the N8 at a considerable saving: it’s €335 pre-tax and subsidies, but we’d imagine carrier deals will bring that down to a free device and a relatively cheap monthly agreement. Whether it’s worth the money is still to be seen, however; we’ll be working that out for the full SlashGear review.

Profiting from Private Label Rights is easy with the correct understanding and a plan to achieve the successful goal. Making money from PLRs is not an art, and there is no secret recipe. The proper understanding of PLR success is knowing your target audience, selling to a niche market and most importantly, having unique content.

Personal unique products will sell themselves. The desired unique content is always in demand, making it easy for PLRs to sell. Even though there are others selling products by targeting a niche audience, and small alterations using your Private Label Rights you can maximize the profits.

With such a demand and so many PLR products available, the purchase of the product you wish to sell should depend on the target audience. By targeting a specific group of people and their needs, it will be easier for you to find interested customers who want to use and buy the product.

Private Label Rights products come in different forms, such as articles, reports, videos, graphics, audio and software.
