Making Money With Options

Most people only expected hardball efforts to get party switchers in the Senate if it wound up closely divided, either 50-50 or 51/49 in either direction.  However, Fox reports today that Senate Republicans have greeted special-election victor Joe Manchin (D-WV) with a big push to get him into the GOP caucus.  And they may well have found a way to convince him to join the minority:

Republicans are making some big promises to try to lure West Virginia Senator-elect Joe Manchin to cross the aisle.

Aside from his pick of committee assignments (likely the Energy and Natural Resources Committee), Manchin might get support for one of his pet projects – a plant to convert coal to diesel fuel that has stalled under Democratic leadership in Washington.

It’s one of Manchin’s pet projects and could mean big money for the state’s coal producers.

“Republicans believe in an ‘all of the above’ approach to energy,” one top Senate aide told Power Play. “And coal-to-diesel could certainly be part of that.”

Manchin’s switch could mean Republican support for not just $1 billion in seed money for the project but also a deal, much sought in coal country, to require the armed forces to use converted coal for fuel.

Republicans believe Manchin is particularly susceptible to the overture because he is up for reelection in 2012 and will have to be on the ticket with President Obama, who is direly unpopular in West Virginia. Democrat Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Independent Joe Lieberman are the other two prime targets of Republican advances.

The response from Manchin’s team won’t make Democrats feel very secure.  Essentially, they don’t commit to much of anything except “to try in good faith to make changes” to the Democratic Party from within, since they just got him elected to fill Robert Byrd’s remaining term.   The message is that either Democrats have to change direction in the Senate or Manchin might take some of this wooing seriously.

Will he jump?  If he did and Nelson comes with him to protect his own prospects in 2012 — which were seriously damaged by his acquiescence on ObamaCare — then that would leave Republicans with only 49 seats.   They would need to get someone else to jump, like perhaps Mark Pryor, who watched his colleague Blanche Lincoln get slaughtered in the midterms last week, to get to 50.  Fox focuses on Joe Lieberman, but he has less reason to switch now than before.  Not only is the Iraq War no longer a big concern, but Lieberman just watched a self-funding Republican in Connecticut lose big to a Democratic establishment candidate in the middle of a Republican teanami.   Lieberman wouldn’t stand a chance of getting re-elected as a Republican in 2012, nor is he a fan of Tea Party political positions anyway.

Even getting to 50 won’t mean control of the agenda.  Joe Biden will cast the deciding vote on leadership positions, which means Harry Reid will still control the Senate, although committee assignments will become more equitable, according to tradition.  Manchin will have to spend two years in the minority and then hope his personal approval ratings remain high enough to prevail against another Democrat in 2012.

Manchin’s team promises to consider the options if Democrats refuse to change directions.  I’ll go out on a limb and guess that Manchin will give them about 18 months to prove themselves one way or another, and then align himself with the party that promises him the brightest future when the 2012 election nears.

Every time I listen to NJ Chris Christie I want to stand up and salute. Today is no different.

Last week the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education voted 6-2 to renew Superintendent LeRoy Seitz's contract, which included a 2 percent per year salary increase.

What made the contract noteworthy, aside from the dozens of people that spoke out against it and the tongue lashing the Board and the Superintendent received from Gov. Chris Christie was that the contract Seitz is currently working under doesn't expire until July 1, 2011.

The Board began contract negotiations during the summer, at about the same time the Christie administration released information about a plan to cap chief administrator's salaries and tying the numbers to the enrollment in the district.

By finalizing the contract now the Board effectively agreed to give Seitz a salary well above the governor's proposed cap for almost five years.

At the Board meeting Mark Tabakin, the Board attorney, told the gathering of about 90 people that the cap is still in the proposal form, that the contract was approved by the County Executive Superintendent Kathleen Serafino and that it is a legal action. "People are upset," he acknowledged, "but it's up to the will of the Board."

The controversial contract drew township residents and protesters from as far away as Clifton and Hackettstown, who were outraged over the Board's end run around the proposed cap.

At times the dissenters were so vocal Board President Anthony Mancuso, who remained calm and in control throughout the proceedings, had to call for a 10-minute recess to let the outbursts subside. The police were also called during one of the breaks though they never had the need to take action.

When the public was allowed to speak the floodgates opened. Taking a sarcastic tact the first speaker Roman Hoshovsky said, "How can anyone be expected to live on $200,000?" Then he produced an empty canister and proposed using it as a collection jar in businesses around town to raise money for Seitz.

Barbara Hackling pointed out the Board had laid off teachers and refused to negotiate with the paraprofessionals, "but found money for him."

Karen Blunt, a 36-year Parsippany resident and a paraprofessional in the district said, "He is looking out for his future. I haven't had a raise in 4 years who is looking out for my future?"

The day before the meeting Seitz is quoted in the Daily Record as saying, "Because of the proposed salary caps, I have to look at my future and the financial welfare of my family. I certainly would have options if I didn't feel the compensation in this district, or New Jersey, is appropriate."

The governor reacted to Seitz's veiled threats to leave New Jersey and go to a nearby state where there is no state salary. "I will say in response to Mr. Seitz, 'Let me help you pack.' We have real problems in our state that we have to fix and we don't have the time, nor the money, nor the patience any longer for people who put themselves before our citizens," Christie railed.

I Applaud LeRoy Seitz

A tip of the hat goes to LeRoy Seitz for being such an arrogant SOB that that the meeting to discuss the new contract overflowed with citizens fed up with school board greed.

It is not easy standing up to thugs who want nothing more but to raise your taxes. But the voters did. That's how riled up they were.

I recommend voters in the Parsippany School District send a message to the ignoramuses who agreed to give LeRoy Seitz a new contract. Vote them off the school board.

Fortunately it takes approval from another level to agree to that raise, so the raise is not a done deal yet.

New Jersey taxpayers are fed up, and rightfully so. If LeRoy Seitz thinks he can get $212,000 elsewhere, more power to him. The same holds true for every public "servant". If you can get more in the private sector, shut up and do it.

Just FYI and not a commercial endorsement but I've been struggling with this idea that the U.S. gov't will somehow get their hooks into my IRA account. Apparently they've floated the idea, no link though.

I went with what's called a "checkbook" IRA that is essentially a LLC that is personally owed and acts as the IRA holder. An IRA servicer is the official administrator (perhaps wrong technical term).

How it works after it is all set up is your IRA funds go to the servicer who in return wires them into your LLC account which you have set up with a local credit union or bank. You have to invest those funds in accordance with IRS guidelines, but you can take physical delivery of PM's for instance.

I used IRA financial services out of florida who in turn uses IRA Services out of California. The transaction went off without a hitch. I ordered from Apmex and wired the funds from the LLC account, had them sent to me (in the name of the LLC) and then transferred them to another physical location where they are out of the reach of the US gov't and other unsavory characters.

Might be something to consider for those of you looking to get your IRA out of the sights of the gov't without taking an immediate tax hit or early withdrawal hit. Possession being 9/10th's of the law and all.

Maybe it is incumbent upon us to kick them out. We have put up with all their trash talk about how stupid we are and how bad the country is that it is time for them to follow through with leaving or shut up if they don’t. Or maybe the question isn’t why don’t they leave as much as it is why are they staying if this is such an awful place? Wouldn’t it be easier to fine a country which is already doing what they want than to transform this one? These people have been having it both ways for too long. And maybe we have allowed them to.

One of the most commonly asked questions regarding search engine optimization is: "What is the best way to learn SEO"? The answer I always give to this question is simple yet complex. My answer to this question is always: "It Depends".

Now before you say that my answer is not a definitive response to the question - let me explain my answer to you.

Search engine optimization by its very nature is not a black and white concept. There is a lot of gray area in the field of search engine optimization SEO.

Thus, it is only natural for people who are trying to learn SEO to be totally confused about how and what to do in relation to learning SEO because there are so many options and opportunities available for people to learn search engine optimization.

Well, let's look closer at my answer to the question what is the best way to learn SEO: "It Depends".

My answer to the question is based purely on my viewpoint of education in general and learning new subject matter.

The fact that someone is trying to learn SEO is only the current situation for the individual. The real question that is being asked is what is the best way for the individual to learn and this depends on the individual.

For example, some people learn best using visual aids while others learn more through audio aids while still others learn better from reading books.

In the end, the best way to learn almost anything is to use a combination of these methods.

However, in our society today people have very little patience, so the visual method tends to be what many people prefer because frankly it is easier to apply and use; but in my experience, the "visual" method in the long run is the least effective method for individuals to utilize for retaining and applying new information.

With this being said, the best method for learning in my opinion is reading a well-written book related to the subject matter.

The book should include visual aspects in the material to enhance the learning experience and access to an instructor for reinforcement of the material that is read or it should be written in a manner that presents the material as if the author is actually sitting with the reader and explaining the information.

Therefore, my answer "it depends" regarding the question of what is the best way to learn SEO can be summarized this way.

"The best way to learn SEO is by reading an SEO book that is well written and covers the entire realm of SEO at the level of the actual reader so that a clear understanding can be conveyed. Hence, for beginners to the intermediate level, the material should be written for readers at that level in a manner that is best for them to learn SEO, which would be different than a book written for an advance SEO reader."

The main problem with reading SEO related books is that most of the books and ebooks sadly are not well written and the information is usually written in a manner that is not designed for the reader to learn but only for the reader to apply what was read. You or no one else can learn this way. It is easy to write a book; but is very hard to write a well-written book that helps an individual learn new material.

If you want to learn SEO, you need to read a good SEO book and/or ebook that actually provides the search engine optimization material in a comprehensive manner and also provides the material in an easy to read, easy to understand, effective and easy to apply manner for real world situations.

Don't fall victim to the hype. If you want to learn SEO, it will take time. A two-day SEO workshop, SEO videos and/or SEO online classes will not help you learn SEO. You can learn to apply specific information using these methods; but you will not learn SEO.

Search engine optimization is much more than a few techniques or tips. SEO is a field of expertise, which requires a strong understanding of all aspects related to SEO before you can truly learn SEO. Thus, it will take time. Remember, Rome was not built in a day.

If you want to learn SEO, you will need to do it the old fashion way by reading and applying the material from a good SEO book and/or ebook.

Remember when you were in grade school, middle school, high school and/or college were you ever just given a CD, video, two-day workshop or other similar methods to learn a subject? No, I will guess that you learned primarily from books or material derived from a book presented by an instructor.

On this note, a well-written SEO book, by an author, that presents the material as if he or she is talking to you can be the substitute for an instructor; but you will still need to read the book and apply what you learn. This has been a time-tested method of learning for hundreds of years around the world. The method will not fail you; however, you can fail the method.

Learn SEO by reading a very good SEO book today.

You can determine the SEO book to purchase and read by carefully reviewing the promotional material for the SEO book, reading objective book reviews regarding the SEO book, comparing the prices of the various SEO books, making sure that you purchase a book that is written to actually teach SEO and finally purchase an SEO book that provides a money back guarantee in case the book does not meet your expectations.

However, remember that you should never take advantage of a money back guarantee. The author worked hard to write the book. If you actually benefited from reading the book or ebook, don't ask for a refund just because you do not want to pay for the book. Always remember that what comes around goes around. Treat people fair and be honest in your dealings with others.

Read a well-written and comprehensive SEO book or ebook.

Whos Making Money

What we know is that Jimmy is coming back. We don't actually see him get on the train back to Atlantic City, but when Nucky dangles an offer that's too good to refuse in front of his nose, we know he's going to be headed back. He doesn't really fit in Chicago, best shown in a scene where he says nothing, but stands outside the Italian mobsters he's fallen in with, watching as they trade insults in Italian. He's accepted by them (particularly by his friend Al Capone), but he'll never be one of them. Much as he might hate to admit it, much as he hates the way the man ran him out of town, his place will ultimately be at the side of Nucky when the chips are down. Being in Chicago hasn't changed him so much as it has shaped things that were already present in him, making him the ruthless man Nucky will need at his side in his own mob war. So, we expect, he'll jump on the train to Atlantic City (with Richard Harrow in tow, I hope), and when he gets back, everything will explode.

Or maybe it won't. Maybe things won't get a chance to explode because Margaret will have turned on Nucky. Because here's something else that happens in this episode: Eli gets shot in the midst of a casino heist. He's there to collect the payment for Nucky (who's away in Chicago at the Republican National Convention), and he gets ambushed by the Italians who've been making so much trouble for Nucky's operation. While he's in the hospital, Nucky has to make sure that his ledger is protected, so he sends Margaret to go get it and keep it at her place. But the temptation of seeing just what it is her new boyfriend is up to ends up being too great, so she flips the pages open at episode's end to see a bunch of stuff she can't unsee. Nucky, whom she first saw at that Temperance League meeting in the pilot, is the guy who's in charge of bringing liquor into Atlantic City. And with that, all her illusions of the man she's in love with will have to disappear, and she'll be left with the question every mob girlfriend in every mob movie ever has had: Do I stay in comfort, or do I go because it's the right thing to do?

In a way, "Boardwalk Empire" is about evolution. There have been complaints against the series for being slow moving, but that may be because evolution is a slow-moving process. Dinosaurs don't become birds in a day, and a person like Nucky doesn't become a ruthless mobster in a day either. He gets pushed in that direction by circumstance, and the events since the pilot have been relentlessly making sure he heads toward that, whether he wants to or not. The pace of the show can feel glacial because the process of what the show's depicting is glacial. Nucky's still at the place where he thinks everybody can be bought, but with the shooting of his brother, he's begun to realize that some men who would depose him cannot be reasoned with. And those men are going to have to be met with equal violence and equal fire. That's where the man he sent away for being too much of a liability comes back into play, and that's why Jimmy's on his way back (we assume).

It's fun to watch a show like this begin to grandly play cards it's been holding since the very beginning, and in that regard, "Hold Me in Paradise" is a very good episode. I preferred last week's slightly, if only because I enjoy the character-driven hours just a bit more, but "Boardwalk" is at the point where it needs to begin making good on its promises of not just telling us a good series of stories about mobsters and others in their orbit but also a grand story about the foundations of organized crime in the 1920s. This plot-heavy hour begins the process of that, even as it shows us how Nucky's political skills help turn the tide at the Republican convention, that Warren Harding might garner the nomination. History now tells us that Harding was one of the most corrupt presidents in U.S. history, offering cushy government jobs to many of the people who supported him at the convention. And yet that's not really so different from what Nucky does every single day with people in Atlantic City. It's just more acceptable because the office is more acceptable. History condemns Harding as a failed president, but it condemns the basis for Nucky's character as a very evil man.

There's this sense of history and fate passing their judgment throughout "Paradise." Harding's wife is convinced that her husband will die in office because of what a fortune teller told her (again, the theme of soothsaying comes to the fore). The series keeps returning to Rothstein's preparations for the Black Sox scandal trial, even though they, at present, don't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the show. And, of course, we know where the antipathy between the Irish and Italians in both Chicago and Atlantic City is headed. In some ways, all of the characters in "Boardwalk Empire" are ignoring what's right in front of their faces, until there's simply no way to stop doing so. Margaret must have known where most of Nucky's money came from, but she chose to play dumb because it was more fun that way. Nucky must have known that there were very few ways his current game could end without bloodshed, but chose to consolidate power anyway. And Jimmy must have known he would be drawn back to Atlantic City at one point or another. Yet there's an attempt to race away from what both they and we know must happen. We know Harding will die in office; we know the bloodshed that is coming; we know who Al Capone becomes. At the same time, we watch, transfixed, because we see these people trying to escape the trap we know they're doomed to remain snared in.

Some other thoughts:

• --For a very interesting alternate take on the death of Harding, the novel "Carter Beats the Devil" (optioned to become a miniseries or series by AMC at one point) is highly recommended.


• --Jimmy's really rolling in the dough in Chicago. If he chose to stay with Al and the gang there, I wouldn't blame him.


• --Incidentally, those were the first scenes between Nucky and Jimmy since episode two or three (I think three, from reading my old reviews). It's amazing that the show would make the relationship between the two so central to the pilot, then separate them for so long.

Last year, under pressure from politicians citing spiraling expenses, the Pentagon backed out of a $6.5 billion deal with Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland to provide 28 new, state-of-the-art birds. President Barack Obama described the procurement process as “gone amok,” with the choppers projected to reach $400 million each, almost double the original price.

Now a detailed look at campaign finance records connected to the Marine One contracts, undertaken for the first time by Wired.com and MAPLight.org, shows a flurry of corporate contributions from Lockheed rivals to lawmakers involved in the decision-making immediately before and after the deal was grounded. And with a government call for new proposals for a revised contract expected next year, pay-to-play contributions to win the coveted deal continue to flow unabated, records show.

MAPLight is a 5-year-old nonprofit based in Berkeley, California. Sikorsky Aircraft was believed to be the leading contender, having already produced the current presidential fleet, consisting of 11 Sikorsky VH-3D Sea Kings and eight Sikorsky VH-60N Black Hawks.

But in 2005, it lost out to Lockheed, of Bethesda, Maryland, and AgustaWestland, a European company that was building the craft along with Lockheed and dozens of subcontractors. The Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland three-engine craft, the EH101, beat out the two-engine design of Sikorsky’s  VH-92, an offshoot of its H92 SuperHawk.

At the time, Navy acquisition chief John Young said Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland prevailed because they were deemed more likely “to meet government requirements on schedule, with lesser risk, and at lower cost.”

What we know is that Jimmy is coming back. We don't actually see him get on the train back to Atlantic City, but when Nucky dangles an offer that's too good to refuse in front of his nose, we know he's going to be headed back. He doesn't really fit in Chicago, best shown in a scene where he says nothing, but stands outside the Italian mobsters he's fallen in with, watching as they trade insults in Italian. He's accepted by them (particularly by his friend Al Capone), but he'll never be one of them. Much as he might hate to admit it, much as he hates the way the man ran him out of town, his place will ultimately be at the side of Nucky when the chips are down. Being in Chicago hasn't changed him so much as it has shaped things that were already present in him, making him the ruthless man Nucky will need at his side in his own mob war. So, we expect, he'll jump on the train to Atlantic City (with Richard Harrow in tow, I hope), and when he gets back, everything will explode.

Or maybe it won't. Maybe things won't get a chance to explode because Margaret will have turned on Nucky. Because here's something else that happens in this episode: Eli gets shot in the midst of a casino heist. He's there to collect the payment for Nucky (who's away in Chicago at the Republican National Convention), and he gets ambushed by the Italians who've been making so much trouble for Nucky's operation. While he's in the hospital, Nucky has to make sure that his ledger is protected, so he sends Margaret to go get it and keep it at her place. But the temptation of seeing just what it is her new boyfriend is up to ends up being too great, so she flips the pages open at episode's end to see a bunch of stuff she can't unsee. Nucky, whom she first saw at that Temperance League meeting in the pilot, is the guy who's in charge of bringing liquor into Atlantic City. And with that, all her illusions of the man she's in love with will have to disappear, and she'll be left with the question every mob girlfriend in every mob movie ever has had: Do I stay in comfort, or do I go because it's the right thing to do?

In a way, "Boardwalk Empire" is about evolution. There have been complaints against the series for being slow moving, but that may be because evolution is a slow-moving process. Dinosaurs don't become birds in a day, and a person like Nucky doesn't become a ruthless mobster in a day either. He gets pushed in that direction by circumstance, and the events since the pilot have been relentlessly making sure he heads toward that, whether he wants to or not. The pace of the show can feel glacial because the process of what the show's depicting is glacial. Nucky's still at the place where he thinks everybody can be bought, but with the shooting of his brother, he's begun to realize that some men who would depose him cannot be reasoned with. And those men are going to have to be met with equal violence and equal fire. That's where the man he sent away for being too much of a liability comes back into play, and that's why Jimmy's on his way back (we assume).

It's fun to watch a show like this begin to grandly play cards it's been holding since the very beginning, and in that regard, "Hold Me in Paradise" is a very good episode. I preferred last week's slightly, if only because I enjoy the character-driven hours just a bit more, but "Boardwalk" is at the point where it needs to begin making good on its promises of not just telling us a good series of stories about mobsters and others in their orbit but also a grand story about the foundations of organized crime in the 1920s. This plot-heavy hour begins the process of that, even as it shows us how Nucky's political skills help turn the tide at the Republican convention, that Warren Harding might garner the nomination. History now tells us that Harding was one of the most corrupt presidents in U.S. history, offering cushy government jobs to many of the people who supported him at the convention. And yet that's not really so different from what Nucky does every single day with people in Atlantic City. It's just more acceptable because the office is more acceptable. History condemns Harding as a failed president, but it condemns the basis for Nucky's character as a very evil man.

There's this sense of history and fate passing their judgment throughout "Paradise." Harding's wife is convinced that her husband will die in office because of what a fortune teller told her (again, the theme of soothsaying comes to the fore). The series keeps returning to Rothstein's preparations for the Black Sox scandal trial, even though they, at present, don't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the show. And, of course, we know where the antipathy between the Irish and Italians in both Chicago and Atlantic City is headed. In some ways, all of the characters in "Boardwalk Empire" are ignoring what's right in front of their faces, until there's simply no way to stop doing so. Margaret must have known where most of Nucky's money came from, but she chose to play dumb because it was more fun that way. Nucky must have known that there were very few ways his current game could end without bloodshed, but chose to consolidate power anyway. And Jimmy must have known he would be drawn back to Atlantic City at one point or another. Yet there's an attempt to race away from what both they and we know must happen. We know Harding will die in office; we know the bloodshed that is coming; we know who Al Capone becomes. At the same time, we watch, transfixed, because we see these people trying to escape the trap we know they're doomed to remain snared in.

Some other thoughts:

• --For a very interesting alternate take on the death of Harding, the novel "Carter Beats the Devil" (optioned to become a miniseries or series by AMC at one point) is highly recommended.


• --Jimmy's really rolling in the dough in Chicago. If he chose to stay with Al and the gang there, I wouldn't blame him.


• --Incidentally, those were the first scenes between Nucky and Jimmy since episode two or three (I think three, from reading my old reviews). It's amazing that the show would make the relationship between the two so central to the pilot, then separate them for so long.

Last year, under pressure from politicians citing spiraling expenses, the Pentagon backed out of a $6.5 billion deal with Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland to provide 28 new, state-of-the-art birds. President Barack Obama described the procurement process as “gone amok,” with the choppers projected to reach $400 million each, almost double the original price.

Now a detailed look at campaign finance records connected to the Marine One contracts, undertaken for the first time by Wired.com and MAPLight.org, shows a flurry of corporate contributions from Lockheed rivals to lawmakers involved in the decision-making immediately before and after the deal was grounded. And with a government call for new proposals for a revised contract expected next year, pay-to-play contributions to win the coveted deal continue to flow unabated, records show.

MAPLight is a 5-year-old nonprofit based in Berkeley, California. Thanks to MAPLight’s tools, which are fueled by data from the Center for Responsive Politics of Washington, D.C., we can not only track the amount of money spent, but see the timing of payments related to legislative work, such as votes, or pressure from politicians to kill an existing contract and hand it to a friend.

In addition to keeping tabs on tech-related pork and lobbying, we are unveiling today a new campaign-finance–tracking widget, in conjunction with MAPLight and based on CRP data, to help shine a general spotlight on politicians and their contributors. (See related story).

Scrap Metal Recycling is an industry that many people have entered into over the years. My family has been in this business for the past three generations. Many people think that it's fairly hard and that there isn't any money to be made. This isn't true. There is all kind of money to be made in the scrap metal industry and it is fairly simple. Whether you want to make a little extra money on the side, or make this your main source of income, there is always money to be made. All you need to start is extra cash and a truck.

First of, you need to start by finding companies that buy scrap metals. Your best bet will be to find a Scrap Metal and Iron or Metal Recycling company and see what they pay for the types of metals you plan on buying. Don't just call one place, make sure you call all that you find. Most companies will pay around the same amount, but there will be some whos price varies much more than the others. Once you have found a company whos price you are happy with, figure out what you are going to be paying for material. For example, if a company offers to pay you .13 on transmissions and you can buy them for $10.00 per piece, then you will be making a pretty good profit.

Once you have decided what to pay on the different types of metals, then you can start on your journey to finding it. Pretty much any type of repair shop is going to have various metals laying around, such as garages and body shops. Speak with the owner or whoever is in charge about you buying their material. If they are willing to sell to you, offer them a price for it that is reasonable enough to where you can still make a profit. Some of the metals you buy will be heavy to carry and you may need to find someone who will help you work for free or for a small amount of pay until you can build your business.

Alot of people tend to give metals away for free. Try looking on www.craigslist.com in your area for people who are asking for someone to clean metals out of their yard. Also, Yahoo has a group called Freecycle that you could try looking on, or even post an add for free scrap metal pickup. You will find that some small businesess don't even want the hassle, and they will give you what scrap metal they have for free. If you know anyone who works in any kind of industry that involves metals, tell them what you're doing, and they may have some to offer.

Once you have enough of metal to sell, take it to the place you found that pays the most. Getting paid is as easy as showing them your ID and possibly having your picture taken. Calculate what you paid for the material and what you yourself were paid for it. This is your profit for the days work. Sometimes your profit will be good, other times it won't. Don't let this discourage you. This is just part of the business. Somedays you may not profit $100.00, and somedays you may profit in the thousands. If you are thinking about making some extra money in the scrap metal industry, I hope that this has helped you to realize that almost anyone can do it.
